New from A England : Briarwood, Love is Enough and Excalibur (new edition)

Whenever I hear about a new A England release, my heart skips a bit, always...
There's just something about Adina's creations; passion, creativity, uniqueness but also high quality, everything about them appeals to me as a nail polish enthusiast.

Today I have the 3 latest additions to the A England range : Briarwood, highly anticipated fifth Burne-Jones Dream shade, Love is Enough, latest Heavenly Quotes and finally Excalibur (new edition), completely re-vamped version of the silver that marked the brand's debuts.

Briarwood (Burne-Jones Dream collection) is a deep marron red with A England's famous holographic effect, I love everything about it, the darkness, complexity, vampiness; all combined with a subtle but oh so beautiful holo, enough to give it to a whole new dimension... sigh.Thick but in a good way, offering a lot of control and high pigmentation, formula was flawless and if it wasn't for review purposes, I would have stopped at the first coat. Pictures below show 2 coats plus topcoat.

Love is Enough (Heavenly Quotes collection) is a grey-green-gold shimmer chameleon. Extremely complex but well balanced, perfect to give a sophisticated and edgy touch to your tips. I've always loved greys and olive greens and this one's no exception. Formula-wise, it was thinner than Briarwood, applied evenly and effortlessly, showing zero brushstrokes.  Two coats were necessary for complete coverage.

Excalibur (re-vamped new edition) couldn't be more different from its first version. Silver indeed but completely counterbalanced by rich golden particles : mostly silver, often pewter or champagne, truly versatile. Application and opacity was very similar to Love is Enough and 2 easy coats was all it took for a completely opaque, brushstroke-free, finish.

And here's a final shot of all 3 bottles next to Excalibur first edition :

Overall :
I feel like each and every one of my A England reviews end the same way : these are all complex and unique colors, if they appeal to you then you won't regret your purchase. Having ever tried the brand before you know its quality never disappoints.

A England is available for purchase within UK directly on a-england.co.uk (£9 each) but also worldwide through the brand's online retailers (full list here).

Misa’s Winter High Society Review... and Giveaway!

Hi girls!

I can't believe I haven't shared Misa’s Winter High Society collection with you yet! I've swatched them a really long time ago and I remember falling completely in LOVE!!!

Misa Trust Fund is a dark solid grey creme. I really love greys and you couldn't go wrong with this one! Super classy!

Misa Tailored Taupe is a dark cool based brown creme. I wouldn't really call it taupe but it still is a beautiful shade of brown.

Misa It Girl is a vampy eggplant creme. Again, a really classy, timeless shade! I have a soft spot for vampies so I'm totally into this one.

Misa Well-Heeled Grey is a dark dusty purple with a strong purple flash. Probably another Chanel Paradoxal dupe but with that pricetag and quality, what's not to love?

Misa Bourbon on the Rocks is a vampy blackened orange shimmer. You'll have to imagine this but 100 times more beautiful! Such a deep and fierce color, that's like lit from within.

Misa Uptown Glamour is my absolute favorite from this collection : really dark midnight blue base with the sexiest red/purple shimmer... Just buy it and thank me later!

Overall :
Formula on all of these was remarkable. Thin, almost sheer but with lots of control on the first coat and perfectly smooth, glossy and opaque on the second! I've been loving Misa more and more lately... This collection is a must have!

The High Society collection is already available on misacosmetics.com and retails for $7.50 each.

Rescue Beauty Lounge Moulin Rouge, Grunge & Coral

The Rescue Beauty Lounge collection consists of very few shades : Chinoise, Plié, Coral, Grunge and Moulin Rouge and good news is that the last three have just been restocked!

Moulin Rouge is a very dark burgundy with hints of chocolate. Dark, creamy and timeless, it's pure classiness in a bottle of polish. Formula was no less than what you would expect from RBL, pigmented and easy to apply in two coats.

Grunge is a warm nude with a very slight purple hue and a subtle silver shimmer. I really love it on me and believe me I'm very picky with nudes! I also found formula rather good for such a light shade and I used 2 coats but you might need a third one if you don't wait long enough between coats.

Coral is very bright and saturated pink based coral. I must say that I didn't expect it to have such a strong pink tint and I love love love it!!! It's so fresh and vivid at the same time that I might very well just go ahead and call it my favorite coral ever! I also used 2 coats and they applied like a dream.

Overall :
I"m merely paraphrasing Ji Baek, the owner and creator of Rescue Beauty Lounge, but I can see how these polishes would be considered perfect color-wise and wouldn't require further tweaking or 2.0 versions. I love Moulin Rouge for its vampiness, Grunge because it's an amazing palette cleanser (that suits me for once) and well Coral because it's pure awesomeness! I'm so happy they're back in stock ♥

Moulin Rouge, Grunge and Coral can be purchased directly on Rescue Beauty Lounge and retail for $20 each (12ml / 0.4 fl.oz). International shipping available.

Glitter Gal New Holographics in Green Suede Shoes & Belgian Chocolate

I'm pretty sure you all already know that Glitter Gal has recently released a 9 piece addition to their holographic line.
Today I have 2 of them to share with you : Green Suede Shoes and Belgian Chocolate.

Green Suede Shoes is a yellow based mint green linear holo. Formula was a little sheer but it applied really nicely and the holo effect was quite noticable even on the first coat. I had to use three to reach full opacity but I think I will layer it next time. No topcoat in these swatches.

Belgian Chocolate is a vampy maroon brown with a "bordeaux" base. The linear holo is surprisingly strong and the color simply exceptional. It was also a little bit sheer and a third coat was necessary to reach full opacity but one single coat over a dark color is enough for a full effect so you might just want to layer it. This is 3 coats and no topcoat.

Overall :
I'm loving these new additions as they are both very unique colors for holos. Green Suede Shoes is very soft looking and Belgian Chocolate is such a gorgeous holo!

There are also a few others that I have my eyes on, especially Teal Green and Teal Blue, you can see all 9 new colors on Chelle's blog Cosmetic Cupcake.

The Glitter Gal New Holographics retail for AUD AUS $11.95 for 10ml.
They will soon be available for purchase directly from glittergal.com or through international stockists glittergal store locator.

Glitter Gal Holographics are :
  • Australia made
  • Glitter Gal uses the highest quality, most extravagant ingredients to offer our customers the most superior polish on the international market.
  • Long wearing polish,  chip resistant, quick drying with a full gloss finish
These give a true linear holographic finish - “multidimensional”
  • We use “true and premium” holographic small particles in our formulation
  • We believe our holographic polishes are the best on the market.
  • Smoothness to the finish, not bulky
  • No top coat is required
  • “Big 5 Free” (TFR, Camphor, Formaldehyde,  DPB and Toluene free)

Off topic : I'm sorry about the lack of posting during the last few days but I am currently in Holland, shopping for nail polish and visiting my dearest Dutch friends. I'd love for you to follow my footsteps and keep track of my current purchases on Twitter or Instagram (username "fashionpolish") or simply hear from you ;-)

Opi Germany collection for Fall Winter 2012 : Part 2

Here they are, the OPI Germany shimmers!
For once, I can say that I've kept the best for last haha. In case you've missed part 1, please follow this link.

Deutsch You Want Me Baby? is a rich and vibrant orange metallic shimmer with a strong red tint. It glows, it's dark, it's perfect for Fall! I can definitely see myself wearing it a lot. Formula was wonderful with a perfect 2 coats coverage.

Danke-Shiny Red is your typical metallic red shimmer. It's shinny and gleaming but not so original. If you don't have any metallic red, I'd definitely recommend it as it's easily available and has a perfect almost-one-coater formula. This is 2 coats plus topcoat.

Suzi & the 7 Düsseldorfs. Really? I don't know what to think about this name haha. Anyway, it's a warm based purple shimmer that I love in the swatches but not so much on me. I'm a purple lover but this specific one is my purple nemesis LOL. Formula was nice but a little sheer. I used 2 careful coats but a third one might ne necessary.

Unfor-greta-bly Blue is a medium blue, leaning teal, metallic shimmer. This one actually leaves a little bit of brushstrokes but it's not that bad in real life. It still is a beautiful shade of blue. Great formula and two coats coverage.

German-icure by OPI. Dark, vampy, mysterious, glorious, blackened around the edges brown based red. I can't even say how happy that OPI went back to the basics with this very vampy! It reminds me of all of the other OPIs that I love so much and pull out when I need some polish comfort. So you get the point, you need it. Formula was amazing with a two coats coverage and a natural shine.

OPI Every Month Is Oktoberfest is hands down my absolute favorite of this collection and probably one of my biggest nail crushes this year. Ink blue base with a very dark predominant red shimmer that match so perfectly, creating THE perfect vampy shimmer. I wouldn't change a thing about it! Formula was also a perfect two coater.

Overall :
A lot of must haves in this part of the Germany collection, if you ask me. My absolute must haves : Every Month is Oktoberfest and Deutsch You Want Me Baby? but I also have a thing for German-icure by OPI and Nein! Nein! Nein! OK Fine! Pfeeewww...That was a lot of ponctuation marks :O

So what do you think about this half of the collection? Are you a shimmer or a creme girl? Do you wear dark shades and vampies?

Germany Collection nail lacquer shades contain no DBP, Toluene, or Formaldehyde, and each includes OPI’s exclusive ProWide™ Brush for the ultimate in application.
Germany by OPI is already available at Professional Salons, including Beauty Brands, Beauty First, Chatters, Dillard’s, JCPenney, Pure Beauty, Regis, Trade Secret, and ULTA, for $8.50 ($9.95 CAN) suggested retail for each Nail Lacquer.
