Michael Jackson Tribute Mani

Today marks the anniversary of Michael Jackson's death (June 25, 2009), so thought I'd do a Michael Jackson mani.  I have to admit that this looked better in my head than it translated on my nails, but oh well, here it is!

Started with a base of two coats of Sinful Colors Cool Gray; top coated using HK Girl topcoat.

Added backdrop using China Glaze OMG using Handy 4 plate.

Stamped using black Konad special polish using Chez Divers 001 on all fingers except ring finger; SdP 111 was used for it.

Added a few random music notes from SdP 111 (and another plate that I didn't mark down for the stars on the index finger; unfortunately the topcoat smear makes them look like just a blob of dots!) and topped with HK Girl fast dry topcoat.

The weather was very humid and even though I waited a few minutes to do the top coating after stamping, I had quite a bit of polish drag....bummer as I didn't take pix without SV.  *sigh*  Oh well.  Only noticeable in macro!  The topoat used was HK Girl topcoat; its obvious it does smear stamping as you can see.  I had heard before that it doesn't smear stamping but that's obviously not the case!

You will never believe this but it's true....Michael Jackson's Man in the Mirror was playing on the radio when I was putting on the finishing coat of SV on this....freaky, eh?

Thanks for looking!

Digit-al Dozen, Books; Day 5

****WARNING - SEXUALLY EXPLICIT IMAGES ON POST ****

The Day 5 mani is based upon Fifty Shades of Grey by EL James.  I'm posting this warning at the top of the page because my mani is sexual in nature; therefore, if this type of mani/post offends you, or you are on your computer and there are minors present, you have warning before the post is clicked.

This is what I came up with!

Started out with a base of assorted greys; all are two coats and topped with SV.  Starting at thumb and going clockwise, the polishes are Sinful Colors Cool Gray, Kit Grey Pearling, Barry M Grey, Dance Legend #1, and Ulta Concrete Evidence.

Stamped with black Konad special polish using MJ II (ring), LS-03 (index) and Handy 36 (thumb, middle and pinky).  MJ III was used for the chains on the index and thumb.

Added a few random dots using red Konad special polish throughout; the gray on the middle is Sinful Colors Cool Gray.

Topped with SV.

I'm glad that the book challenge gave me a *valid* reason to use the Handy 36 plate as these images are ones I'd usually put on my nails otherwise!  lol!

Here's the other ladies Day 5 mani's.....so much creativity!!!

Have a great weekend....and thanks for looking!

Digit-al Dozen, Animal Week; Day 5

I'm a little late in posting my Day 5 challenge mani for animal week; this is what I came up with!  A warning; this post is very picture heavy!

Started with a base of one coat of Sinful Colors Cool Gray, no topcoat.  This was pretty good coverage for one coat; I didn't do two as I knew I'd be layering it.

Added Barry M Grey at tips with sponging.

More sponging using FingerPaints Black Expressionism.

Decided the sponging on the thumb wasn't quiet was I was looking for so added a bit more, then did cleanup.

Prior to adding stamping, sponged in a little grey at the cuticle on the thumb.  Added the wolf using LLC10 which was stamped using black Konad special stamping polish.  Also added the moon using A53 using yellow Konad special polish.

Added tree branches using LLC B using black Konad special polish. In hindsight, I like the look of the mani at this stage, but I did add more.

Added stars using NC02 using white Konad special polish.

Stamped in a few clouds using grey FUN stamping polish from Konad m79.

Added a few more clouds with a custom blend I made on the image plate as I went along by mixing grey FUN stamping polishing with a drop of white which was mixed with a toothpick on the plate, then scraped.

Using a brush, extended a few tree branches using black Konad special polish.

Topped with SV.

(Couldn't decide which pix I liked better!)

Here's the other ladies Day 5 mani's; they are fantastic!

Hope you're having a good weekend; my next post will announce the winner of my impromptu giveaway....thanks for looking!

Just Give Me the Quick Gray by Gray

After a tip off on Twitter last weekend, I found myself browsing Fragrance Direct and I found out where they've been hiding all those discontinued Sally Hansen shades! That website has stackloads of them for £1.49 including my favourite off-white - Ion, and flittery gold - Gilded Lily. After Googling for swatches of all the shades I didn't already have, I settled on 3 colours including this beauty - Gray by Gray. It's a very rich, blue tinted, dark grey.

I started with a base colour of Sally Hansen Gray by Gray then stamped on the Paisley design from Bundle Monster Plate BM-315 using Essie Blue Rhapsody, a metallic blue.
The glitter on my ring finger is Chit Chat Ariel which I picked up in Poundland. I finished it all off with a coat of Sally Hansen Dries Instantly plus an extra two coat over the glitter.

Digit-al Dozen, Love and Heartbreak, Day 5

Here's the lone mani I did for this weeks theme that had heartbreak as part of it.

 photo Picture298_zpsba708d6d.jpg

Started with a base of two coats of Sinful Colors Cool Gray, topped with SV.

 photo Picture279_zpsecf3b1cf.jpg

Stamped using red and black Konad special polishes using Mash-31 (pinky), SdP D-07 (middle), SdP 85 (you and me on index), and HD-A (wording on thumb and heart on ring ringer).

 photo Picture280_zps2b166bc5.jpg

Added a few more images using VL003 (cross out circle on index), HD-A (separated heart on index; I stamped one half then the other as I was concerned it would be too large to fit the area), T23 (heart on thumb) and E01 (black roses on index).

 photo Picture292_zpsbe8af45f.jpg

Topped with SV.

 photo Picture325_zps3af3ad27.jpg

Hope you had a fantastic Valanetine's Day....and I hope you didn't have any heartbreak....because unforrtunatey Love Sucks sometimes.

Thanks for looking!

Digit-al Dozen, Love and Heartbreak, Day 1

This month's Digit-al Dozen theme is Love and Heartbreak....I have so many V-Day mani's to post...they are mainly about Love....but there will be some Heartbreak too....this is the first I came up with!

 photo DSC06641_zps0c1453d1.jpg

Started with a base of one coat of Nicole by OPI Positive Energy, with two coats of OPI Red my Fortune Cookie on accent.

 photo DSC06623_zpse7321364.jpg

Stamped with black Konad special polish using Big SdP L.

 photo DSC06626_zpsbcb6ec4c.jpg

Stamped on accent with Nicole by OPI Positive Energy using plate W203.

 photo DSC06629_zps29e4a4df.jpg

While I didn't mind this, wanted something a little different so I did a test stamp on my thumb with a layer of white.  Liked the results so started the other hand and LOOK AT THIS!

 photo Picture407_zps76a1f5af.jpg

Stamped EXACTLY on top of the first image...I mean, I couldn't do that in a million gazillion years if I wanted to on purpose, never mind that I really wanted it offset!  I was amazed I did this...even though it was unintentional!  (Small things amuse me, obviously!!!)

 photo Picture409_zpsdf9af3ae.jpg

Anyway, I had seen the double stamping had a little bit of potential on my test thumb so stamped the rest of my hand in white, except the thumb, which I added another layer of black for contrast.

 photo DSC06638_zps92599050.jpg

Topped with SV.

 photo DSC06641_zps0c1453d1.jpg

IRL, this was pretty cool and funky; however, it kinda looked like a hot mess in this pix....like I was intentionally doing a Jackson Pollack Valentine mani!

Thanks for looking...and here's the other very talented ladies in the group with their Day 1 mani's if you want to take a look!

This weeks FB Adventures in Stamping challenge was stamping with an accent nail.  This is what I came up with.

Started with a base of three coats of Love & Beauty Gunmetal/Multi.

DSC06303-2

Stamped with black Konad special polish using GA29 with an accent of GA30 using red Konad special polish for the Gals Fairy set.

DSC06312-2

Added a few random black dots as well as a couple in the centre of the flower on the accent flower.

DSC06314-2

Topped with SV.

DSC06328-2

GA 29 and 30 are part of the Gals Fairy set which was part of my last giveaway....speaking of which, a winner was chosen with random.org not to long ago and the name chosen was....

Photobucket

vwolfe!!!

Photobucket

vwolfe was emailed, responded and replied; the Gals Fairy set is on the way to her!

Edit:  vwolfe has sent an email confirming that her plates were received!!

Gals Fairy and Princess image plate sets can be ordered from Cheeky's website directly, as well as Amazon.  This is the first time that I've used these plates and I had no problems at all; they stamped well  and there were a lot of full size images which I always love to see!

Thanks to the 25 entries received on the post...and a reminder that I'm doing random giveaways for those who follow and happen to see the giveaways mentioned in the posts...this was the second random giveaway since I've been holding them...who knows when the next one will be...but I can say that I do have more plates....and polishes.....already set aside for future giveaways!

Hope you had a great weekend....and thanks for looking!
