Chromed and Bejeweled

Happy New Year everyone! Bring on 2013, I hope it's going to be a good one! We didn't really party this new year's eve but did go to a friend's house for some dinner and drinks. I still had to do some sort of celebratory mani to ring in the new year. Plus, this polish completely matched the metallic silver pumps I wore.

I chose a simple mani, mainly because I didn't have a lot of time to do my nails. I enjoyed wearing this colour on it's own so much (I had only ever used it for nail art before), that I still have it on today! I just love how metallic silver looks irl, which is strange for me because metallic is usually my least favourite type of polish.

2 coats of Stargazer Chrome Silver 232 and two coats of Milani Jewel FX in Silver on the ring fingers.

Chromatic Pastels

Back in November, I posted this mani called "Chromatic Neon Dots". A metallic foil base topped with colourful neon dots. Since then, I've received a lot of positive feedback on my IG feed for this mani so I decided to recreate it but this time with softer pastel dots.

I still prefer the way the neon dots look against the silver, they are obviously much brighter and stand out more but it's toned down cousin isn't so bad either.

I used Stargazer Chrome Silver #232 for the base and the dots are a mixture of pastel coloured polishes ranging from Jessica Samba Parade to Barry M Lemon Ice Cream, to Rimmel London Misty Jade.

(Haha, the reflection on the bottle...me in my house sweater! Lol!)

Thanks for reading and commenting :)

Rimmel Urban Princess - Pink Wednesday!!

Pink is out of my comfort zone but I love Pink Wednesdays for making me wear it! This pink falls way way outside of my comfort zone but as soon as it's on my nails I feel like I need to put my hair in pigtails and giggle excessively. It's so cute and bubblegummy!

Stargazer #303 - It's a 7 but I wanted it to be a 10!

This blue looked an absolute duo chrome goodness in the bottle. You can probably see the flash of multiple colours in the bottle pics below, however, I'm afraid that multitude of colour doesn't transfer to the nail, it would be awesome if it did!

Stargazer #303 is a vibrant electric blue filled with purple and pink specks. It reminds me a little bit of Orly Cosmic FX Lunar Eclipse. It needs 3 coats for full opacity. I only applied 2 coats so there is some vnl (which isn't really visible irl). The finish is slightly "foil" like.

Overall, I still think it's a good polish. I love the colour and the formula is really good to work with. I got a lot of comments on the colour from "non-polish-lovers" or (non-believers as I like to call them) which is a sort of benchmark for me. It's a 7 but when I first saw the bottle, I really I wanted it to be a 10!

It retails for £2.50 and I bought it directly from the Stargazer website.

Chromatic Neon Dots

Today I have something a little more colourful and lively to show you. Not that the weather calls for it but I've had it on my list of manis "to do" for a while so why not do it on a super dreary, rainy day?

I first saw this mani on Mad Manis and Deniz also did an amazing version. The silver makes the look quite robotic and futuristic but the neon polka dots add a little fun to it. I had a little trouble keeping all my dots in line as I miscalculated the space still left on the nail. Random dots are so much easier to do!

I used 2 coats of Stargazer chrome silver #232 and various neon/ bright coloured polishes for the dots.

Lebowski hasn't made an appearance on here in quite some time, here is a recent photo of him playing with his snake (wow...that actually sounds quite dirty!)

A Hot Pink Chrome Leopard & A Snoozy Cat

I wasn't sure what to add to yesterday's Stargazer Chrome. When I'm in doubt of what to do or am lacking inspiration, I do leopard, Lol!

I used a Primark polish for the leopard spots. It's a hot pink with red undertones, the bottle has no name and a 001 number. It's my only Primark polish as I'm always afraid their polishes will lack pigmentation. I must admit this one is very good, I swatched it on my thumb and it was fully opaque in 2 coats!

The Stargazer chrome may look a bit too shiny in these pictures but that's because I added a coat of Barry M Silver to it as I showed you yesterday:

And here is a pic of Eggbert. When I got home yesterday, I found him snoozing in the bath tub! WTF?! My cats sleep in the weirdest places!

Stargazer - Chrome Silver #232

Stargazer Chrome Silver was all over Ebay and Amazon in the last couple of years (I think it still is). I have heard many good and bad things about it so I wanted to try it out for myself and at £2.50 a pop, why not!

So, in a nutshell, these are the good and bad points for me:

Bottle - Love the mirror shine colour of the bottle but hate the shape! It's super hard to hold when trying not to make your fingers look all frumpy and ugly for the pics.

Application & Formula - I've read reviews where people have had trouble applying this over regular base coat as it drags leaving bald patches. I had no problem with this. It applied evenly over my base coat (CND Stickey) and with 2 thin coats I was left with a complete opaque coverage! It dries like a matte polish - very quickly. Be careful is you have ridges, this polish shows EVERYTHING! Even the slightest piece of dust will be magnified if trapped in this polish!

Colour - Silver metallic foil, like a nice piece of stainless steel, but it's not glittery or glossy as are some other metallics. This one is quite matte with only the slightest bit of shine.

Overall, I think it's quite good for the price! I can't see anything majorly wrong with it. Don't know what all the bad reviews were about! I think a lot of people were expecting it to look exactly like the colour on the bottle!

I then added a coat of Barry M Silver as I wanted to see what it looked like with a high shine to it. I like both looks but obviously the original look is more unique!

Peachy Teddies!

Hi everyone! I was meant to post these earlier today but didn't really have the time. So, here is what I added to my peachy Stargazer mani from yesterday - some striping tape, some dots and some fimo teddy bears :)

I wouldn't really wear this mani for more than a few hours because the fimo can get really annoying, especially as I don't like to seal it with a top coat! It's super cute for a picture and that's mainly why I did it, but I got a few funny looks outside :/

What do you think? Would you wear an OTT mani like this outside?

And here is Lebowski's face when he saw this mani:
