Camouflage mani

Since American Apparel recently released 12 new nail polish shades, I decided to go and check them out. I picked up a few and today I'd like to show you the one that inspired me the most : Army Jacket.

American Apparel's nail polishes are DBP, toluene, and formaldehyde-free.

And here are the 12 new shades :

From left to right : Cocoa, Mannequin, Army Jacket, Port, MacArthur Park, Echo Park, African Violet, Make Up, Trenchcoat, Raccoon, Rouge, Cameo Blue.

Army Jacket is just what it's meant to be, a beautiful military green that applied like a dream. Of course I wanted to see how it compared to Chanel Khaki Vert and I also added Essie Sew Psyched to the comparison.

Chanel Khahi Vert, Khahi Brun, Khahi Rose
Essie Sew Psyched

I really like Army Jacket, the consistency is just perfect, the color is gorgeous, a little more yellow based than Chanel Khaki Vert and I would totally recommend this one as a substitute for it.
Sew Psyched is more muted and has a secret silver shimmer, I don't know why but it bothers me, maybe military green and shimmer just don't match for me. But one thing I can't deny is that it has a perfect formula, the color is nice, maybe I should wear as a full mani instead as a one finger swatch.

Now if you know me, you must have already foreseen how this would turn out:

Chanel Khahi Vert, Khaki Brun, Khaki Rose
Of course you can do a camouflage mani even if you missed out on Chanel's Khaki collection :
American Apparel Army Jacket
Essie Playa del Platinum
Essie Little Brown Dress
Eyeko Military
Illamasqua Boosh

As usual, here's the step by step :

1  Apply base coat
2  Apply one or two coats of base color
3  Draw the camouflage patern, alternating size, shape and position with your second nail polish
4  Repeat step 3 with your third nail polish, finish with top coat

You can also use more nail polishes and add them up, just like on the second picture.
Make a dramatic look with a mix of very dark and light colors or a sober one with more harmonious ones.
