piCture pOlish new collaborations : Electric Dream, Freya's Cats & Shy Violet

Hi girls! I have the all three latest piCture pOlish collaborations to show you today! Obviously, I was super excited to show you my own shade last week but I must say that I was almost equally excited to see how many colors the launch would include, which bloggers would have worked on them and, well of course, what they would look like!

Electric Dream is a coral pink (in other words, my kind of pink!) with a strong gold shimmer as well as the piCture pOlish signature scattered holo. Super bright and with a lot of depth, it changes a lot depending on how lighting hits it and emphasizes its coral side. Formula was slightly thick but really easy to work with, almost a one coater, I also noticed that it dried to a satin finish. I used 2 thin coats plus topcoat here.

Clinique - A Different Nail Enamel for Sensitive Skins - Swatches & Review

Until very recently I wasn't aware that Clinique were bringing out a range of nail polishes! They did have nail polish in the past but I don't remember it ever being anything to shout home about.
Indeed the fragrance free brand has launched a new line of twelve core colours and nine limited edition Summer 2013 shades (see UK website for more details).

This nail enamel claims to be "different" as per the name and why is that you ask? Well, according to Clinique it was specifically formulated to minimise skin and eye sensitivity. They are also 5-free, but I thought established 5-free polishes were already kinder to skin? Check out Lipglossiping blog for more information on the formula and what the Clinique PR team had to say about it.

Today I'll be showing you 6 different shades. A mixture of some core line shades as well as some limited edition ones. You'll notice I have also filed down my nails quite a bit, it's much easier to swatch with shorter nails. All swatches are two coats although I would recommend three coats for the jellies.

Happy is my favourite from the bunch. A hot coral creme with pinkish-red undertones which is quite hard to capture on camera.

70o and Sunny (LE) is a bright sunflower yellow creme. Most yellows are streaky and this one is no exception. However, the formula was quite good to work with and therefore quite easy to minimise streakiness.

Black Honey is deep blackened cherry red jelly which is perfect for fall. The fact it's a jelly means that it doesn't apply so dark on the nail that it looks completely black as some of these polishes often do.

Hot Date (LE). An interesting purple jelly. With only two coats, you can see the magenta undertones in there that for some reason my camera picked up. It's slightly darker and more true to bottle colour in person.

Party Red is a classic fire engine red creme. As with the other cremes in this collection, opacity was great.

Juiced Up (LE) is an orangey coral jelly. Not as bright as Happy but still a must have for summer if you don't feel like wearing an in-your-face neon.

The bottle shape isn't my favourite (they remind me of Nails Inc bottles only thinner), but the embossed chrome metal caps are quite sleek and do keep with the Clinique image. The whole bottle is very clean (no writing whatsoever) with only a small sticker at the bottom showing the polish name. For a list of ingredients, you must refer to to outer paper packaging the bottles come in.

Although I was impressed with the formula on these, including the jellies; each 9ml bottle comes with a price tag of £12 which I know is a lot more than what a lot of people would pay for polish, myself included. People with sensitive skin prone to allergies and irritation should give this polish a go and see how it compares to their regular polish.

Zoya Pixie Dust Summer Edition Fire Gradient!

Last night when I posted my Zoya Pixie Dust Summer Edition review I promised you a little surprise involving Solange, Beatrix and Destiny so here it is!

I loved them so much and found them so great together that I couldn't resist creating a gradient ^_^

I didn't use any sponge but simply "brushed" them one over the other, starting with two thin coats of Destiny and then slowly adding Beatrix and Solange. It's much less messy and works great with shimmers and glitters. I'll try and post a tutorial very soon. In the meanwhile, here's the matte textured "Fire Gradient"!

I hope you liked this "Fire Gradient" *inserts Hunger Games reference hehe*

Ozotic 600 series : 600, 602, 604, 619 & 621

Hi girls! Today I have my second Ozotic 600 serie post to share with you!

Last post featured an ombré of purples and blues and this one's all about golds and reds. I must apologize in advance for the picture spam but this is one of my very first 5 fingers swatches (say hello to my thumb! LOL) and I just couldn't narrow them down...

Ok let's go!

Ozotic 604 is a cool toned gold scattered holographic. I'm not that much into yellow based golds so this one is perfect for me with its pewter undertones. Formula was slightly sheer but applied like butter and required two coats for complete coverage. Depending on your nail length and application, I'd say it's a two to three coater.

Ozotic 602 is a coppery gold shimmer with scattered holo particles. Strangely enough I really like this ones, so much for not loving gold haha. Formula was completely different than 604, literally packed with shimmer particles and much more pigmented, it could almost pass for a one coater. I used two coats plus topcoat.

Ozotic 619 is a pinkish coral scattered holo with a slight brown hue, very complimenting on my skin tone. It's also the one with the strongest holo here, almost linear under certain lightings. More jelly-like and extremely even / easy to apply two to three coater, I used two coats in the swatches below.

Ozotic 600 is a pinkish coral scattered holo with a faint red hue. Very similar to 619 in the bottle and on the nails, I'd recommend picking up the undertone that suits you best. Overall comparable to 619 in terms of formula as well, it did prove to be slightly more pigmented though and a true and easy two coater.

Ozotic 621 is highly saturated red scattered holo that screams WOW look at me!!! If I should keep just one red scattered holo ever it would be this one without hesitation. Intense, lustrous and extremely opaque,  simply perfect. Formula was outstanding, offering a lot of control and completely opaque on the first coat, I used two below for an even more saturated look.

China Glaze Texture Review

When I first heard about the whole texture trend, I wasn't entirely sold on the idea but then the shimmers I tried convinced me so they got me really curious about texture cremes as well.

The China Glaze Texture collection is a set of six bold and summery cremes, let's give them a closer look, shall we?

Formula was consistent on the entire collection so I'll just talk about it here. They all applied really nicely and offered a lot of control. Slightly on the thick side but in a good way, they were almost completely opaque on the first coat. I used two coats and no topcoat in all of my swatches. I recommend using thin coats and waiting a good minute or two between coats to shorten drying time.

Unrefined is a light blue based pink. I'm not really into this time of shade so I don't really like this one, independently of the texture finish. Two coats, no topcoat.

Itty, Bitty & Gritty is a bright coral creme with pink undertones. Now this is a color I love! Absolutely stunning and such a happy shade. Two coats, no topcoat.

Bump & Grind is a darker pink creme with coral undertones. Another gorgeous color and probably one of the few shades of pink I really love. Two coats, no topcoat.

Toe-Tally Textured is a bright tangerine creme. I also love this color! I know, I'm so last year haha. Two coats, no topcoat.

In The Rough is a pale yellow based green creme. I don't think this one looks good on me, so I'm kind of meh about it. Two coats, no topcoat.

Of Coarse! is a bright blue creme. This is one of my favorites as well, perfect for Summer! Two coats, no topcoat.

Overall :

I honestly didn't think much of these texture cremes, I was afraid they'd look like popcorn ceiling but I must say that I love them! They're easy to apply, dry fast, barely require any cleaning and wear like iron. My top picks : Itty, Bitty & Gritty, Bump & Grind, Toe-Tally Textured and Of Coarse!

China Glaze Hologlam collection review

When I first heard that China Glaze was working on a new holographic collection, I instantly knew I'd have to have them! The Kaleidoscopes and OMGs were part of my all time favorite collections and after the subdued Tronicas, I was dying to see China Glaze go back to the basics with true linear holos.

So today I have the entire China Glaze Hologlam collection to share with you. Let's see if they to live up to our expectations ;-)

Formula was consistent in all of the polish of this collection so I'll just talk about it here. I tried applying  them over my regular basecoat and even on naked nails but was confronted to patchiness so aqua base is definitely a must. I also noticed that some clumpiness around the neck of the bottle on some of them but nothing a good shake couldn't solve. Other than that, they all applied smoothly and required one to two coats for complete coverage. I used two in all of my swatches and no topcoat.

Get outta my Space is a soft mauve with a faint linear holo. I usually prefer my purple holos darker but that's just personal taste and it still is a really nice pastel.

Astro-Hot is a blue based pink with a medium linear holo. It's not one of the strongest holos in the collex but it's still strong enough and a very nice pink.

Not In This Galaxy is a warm coral with a medium linear holo. It's a beautiful shade and I can see it working on a wide variety of skin tones. I definitely prefer coral pinks over blue based pinks for my holos.

Infra-Red is a pink/magenta with a strong linear holo. It's the last "pink" in this collection and hands down my favorite between them! It's rich, strong and really beautiful.

Don't Be a Luna-Tic is a light turquoise leaning aqua with a faint linear holo. I've always been more drown to cool holos and although I wish it would have been stronger, I still love it.

Sci-Fly By is a sky blue with a medium linear holo. I'm really loving the stronger holo in this one, so gorgeous!

Take a Trek is a beautiful denim blue with a medium linear holo. It's my second favorite blue and an amazing color. Denim blues always make gorgeous holos!

Strap On Your Moonboots is a gorgeous navy blue with a medium linear holo. Definitely my fave blue here! What can I say? I've always loved darker colors...

Cosmic Dust is a silvery slate grey with a strong linear holo. There's a slight dusty feeling to it that sets it apart from your average silver holo. Another beautiful polish.

OMG a UFO is an olive green with a medium linear holo. A very unusual shade of green, especially for a holo but I'm totally loving it as well.

When Stars Collide is a purple eggplant with a strong linear holo and OMG it's a stunner! It looked promising on the promo shots and it did not disappoint. If you love holos, there's no hesitation you need this one.

Galactic Grey is a gunmetal grey with a slight warm brown hue and a strong linear holo. It's one of my absolute favorites, dead on gorgeous! 

Overall :

I used my regular OTT light to swatch the Hologlams and I think that it pretty much gives a fair idea of how they are in real life. Of course, the holo effect was less obvious in the shade, especially on the lighter shades (i.e. the ones with the faintest holo) which pretty much looked like your average metallics, but the other ones looked amazing even then. 

In conclusion, I'll just say that they aren't as crazy holo as the Laylas for example, even if most of them are  holo enough, especially in the sun, but that makes them much more wearable in my opinion.
